A little background…
Grande Sports is made of two entities: Grande Sports World and Grande Sports Academy. Grande Sports World (GSW) is a new $20 million dollar elite training facility and includes a state of the art 58,000 square foot performance center with the finest strength and conditioning equipment along with 9 professional multi-sport fields. The performance center also includes 16 classrooms with multimedia capabilities for study sessions, video analysis and rules instruction. Another component is the hot and cold plunge pools for swifter recovery, regeneration and rehabilitation. Fifteen of the 19 Major League Soccer teams and four National soccer teams have trained or played games at the facility.
The historic Francisco Grande golf course at Grande Sports World was built in 1961 and was designed by renowned golf course architect, Ralph Plummer which also designed Shady Oaks, home of famed golfer, Ben Hogan and PGA Tour stops – The Colonial Country Club and Tryall Golf Club.
An impressive 15 acre precision practice facility will open in 2013 that is like none other in the world and will entail every aspect of the game. The complex will include a short game area of 120 yards and in, hitting tees for every wind angle, chipping areas, challenging bunkers, and challenging putting greens.
Grande Sports Academy is a full-time residential youth sports academy and is committed to identify, develop and prepare student-athletes to be all they can be - - personally, athletically and academically - - and provide them with a foundation for success in all aspects of their lives. We provide a safe environment away from home that nurtures and develops the individual talents of each student-athlete while instilling qualities of commitment, responsibility and teamwork.
Grande Sports Academy is home to the Real Salt Lake- AZ academy soccer teams and is the only full-time residential soccer team affiliated with a MLS team – Real Salt Lake. We have 72 residents from 19 different states and six foreign countries, and the U16 team is in first place, and the U18 team is in second place in the Southwest Division. All of our graduates have earned college scholarships or are playing professionally.
It has been our strategic decision to start with one sport (soccer) to do it better than anyone else, and then add another sport (golf) and emulate the same success. More sports will follow with the same formula as there are still 500 acres to expand upon.
